Matthew Shaw BSc FCA FCCA
Technical Director
Matthew graduated from Reading University with a degree in Physical Geography and after teaching for a year, he trained as a Chartered Accountant in Bird Luckin's Brentwood office. He qualified first time and then joined a six partner firm in West London (non HAT) before joining HAT in June 1994.
Roles and Responsibilities
Matthew's major areas of responsibility are:
- Writing and teaching on the basic pension scheme and basic charity workshops
- Lecturing on the HAT CPD course programme on pensions, charities, SAR, FSA, UK and International financial reporting
- Advising practices on audit compliance
- QAD and Practice Assurance / Quality Checked support
- Presenting technical update meetings
- Running manual induction and money laundering courses
- Carrying out quality control file reviews
- Undertaking hot file reviews on high risk and listed clients
- Carrying out student reviews
- Editorship of all technical manuals
Hobbies & Interests
Matthew's hobbies include going to the gym, gardening, antiques and design.
