Content of Course:

The course introduces students to practical book keeping and covers preparing a set of financial statements from source documents. The week concentrates on the practical problems that will be encountered.

The course covers by use of lectures and case studies:

  • the principles of double entry book keeping
  • books of prime entry
  • sales and purchase ledgers
  • nominal ledger including control accounts
  • trial balance
  • extended trial balance
  • interpretation of accounts
  • incomplete records.
